  1. The account manager will reach out to you to get your availability for an interview; schedule some time with them in advance to get more information and context about the role and the person you’ll be interviewing with 👩‍🏫

  2. Are you looking for a permanent job simultaneously? If so, please make sure that this is disclosed to your Lawtrades account manager. Most of our clients are looking for candidates that are looking to freelance on an on-going basis OR running their own practice. 🧐

  3. Bear in mind that you’ll most likely be speaking directly to the person who will be hiring you, and/or teammates you’ll work with on the engagement. 👍

  4. Unlike an interview you might land via a recruiter or job board, you are not expected to have done a lot of research and due diligence ahead of the call, but you’ll be expected to know the information that was included in the job post on LawTrades’ platform.

  5. Most clients choose one Lawtrader over the other based on Communication Skills, Culture Fit, and soft skills - so relax, be yourself, and make sure you’re interviewing them too - the best engagements are with people that like working together. 🙌

  6. Make sure you're on video unless otherwise specified. Your calendar invite will contain either a Zoom link, Google Meet link, or Microsoft Teams link. With one click, you'll be brought into the video interview. 📅

  7. Please make sure you're on time and join a few minutes early if you can! These interviews generally last about 20-30 minutes. Usually, it’s a single interview, sometimes there are multiples and on occasion, you may be asked to perform a short exercise⏱️

  8. Do not start the interview by talking about yourself. Ask the client, “Can you tell me about yourself, the company, and what you need, in your own words, and highlight what you think can make me a success in this role?” and then speak to your background, experience, etc. relevant to that context. ⚡

  9. Come prepared with good questions about the work, the work style, the scheduling of your hours, and everything else you need to know to determine if the job is a good fit for you❓

  10. Any HR related questions (compensation, benefits, time tracking etc.) should be brought to your LawTrades account manager, not the client. We are happy to negotiate on your behalf. 💬

  11. As your interview nears the end, ask the interviewer if they have any hesitations about hiring you. This gives them the opportunity to voice any concerns - and it gives you the opportunity to address them. 9 of 10 times, the concern is easily overcome, however typical 1 out of 10 times the interviewer will be forthcoming with the feedback. 💕

  12. If they say they have no hesitations - don’t be afraid to ask for the job! “When can I start?” 😎

  13. After the interview is done, let your main point of contact at LawTrades know how it went. Simply send us an email, bearing in mind that we may forward it to the client. We'll follow up with the client immediately after and relay any feedback that we get. 🤝
